Kindness on the Kirk's Holy Week
On the first kind day of Christmas, so keen,
My kin, with kindness, gave to me,
A kilted partridge in a kilted pear tree.
On the second day, with kinship in sight,
Two kestrels kind, and a partridge in flight.
On the third day, with kindness so keen,
Three kooky hens, two kestrels, and a partridge in green.
On the fourth day, as kindness did grow,
Four kites calling, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge in tow.
On the fifth day, with kindness in flair,
Five kingly rings, four kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge there.
On the sixth day, with kindness to share,
Six kine a-kneeling, five rings, four kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a
partridge fair.
On the seventh day, with kindness to seek,
Seven kelpies a-swimming, six kine, five rings, four kites, three hens, two
kestrels, and a partridge meek.
On the eighth day, with kindness in bloom,
Eight kirk bells ringing, seven kelpies,
six kine, five rings, four kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge's
plume.
On the ninth day, with kindness bright,
Nine kith dancing, eight bells, seven kelpies, six kine, five rings, four
kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge's sight.
On the tenth day, with kindness to show,
Ten knights a-leaping, nine kith, eight bells, seven kelpies, six kine, five
rings, four kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge below.
On the eleventh day, with kindness to heal,
Eleven kinsmen piping, ten knights, nine kith, eight bells, seven kelpies, six
kine, five rings, four kites, three hens, two kestrels, and a partridge's zeal.
On the twelfth day, with kindness at peak,
Twelve kettledrums drumming, eleven kinsmen, ten knights, nine kith, eight
bells, seven kelpies, six kine, five rings, four kites, three hens, two
kestrels, and a partridge in the kirk's holy week.
