I took the boat our for a sunset cruise. Followed up with a nice dinner on the boat. What pleasant picnicking.
The boat performed well. A little swell on the Bay but not enough to dampen our enjoyment. Sun setting over the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu as we turned back and ran in. Our adventure was long enough to give the Cummins diesel engines a chance to warm up. I hear that the way to keep them healthy is to use them. So true of almost everything on a boat.
This season I've been fishing little. But fixing a lot. A treatment on that. A rebuild on this. A scrub up on that. Some glue on this. If you love to tinker on boats then you know what that fun can be.
Wood maintenance... Murphies soap and oils
Outrigger maintenance... re-do the tip (welding) and restring (cords and bungies and bits)
Window tracks and cleaning... Loosing that winter grime build up so they slide
De-clutter the corners and lighten the load.
Refrigerator clean and repair the seal strip.
eg - Stuff fixed and patched.
Just a few more chores to be ready for the season and fishing. Like an electrical plug to rebuild.
Next items to plan is having the little engines serviced and primed for Catalina trips. Both the generator and the dinghy outboard will have a check up. Heck, I'm more diligent about the engines than I am about my own doctor visits.
Okay that is for another post this is Boat centric right now.
But the point is... I got on the ocean. I enjoyed a lovely sunset. I sucked up some quality time with some quality people. Happy. ( singing in my head... "Happy like a room with no roof" )
