A day fishing on Sunday

Took three kids and two dads out for a little fishing on Sunday. The
fishing had been very slow for Santa Monica Bay. But we found some
fish and my son, Ryan, brought up a very nice 45+ lb Black Sea Bass.
On the same rod & reel that he won in the Halibut Derby! Ryan fought
the beast to the surface after a lot of work using 20# line on a
spinning rig. Lots of perseverance form Ryan and a bit of boat
maneuvering won out. What a beautiful sight!

We were in 110 feet on the upside of "The pipe" just south of MDR. We
had good marks on the meter. A big Sculpin too.

The boat ran fine. The dads got out-fished by the boys. Ouch. (in a good way) :-)

A fine day on the water. Keith <"><

By the way... We released the fish having never touched it or having raised it out of the water. We reached out through the transom door to release the fish. Removing the hook from the lip and the big brute splashed us with his tail as he headed down with plenty of power left in him.

Very nice sight! <"><
