V is for Vetran - Happy Veterans Day thoughts.

 Happy Veterans Day.

TGIF and all that too.  So today I will toast all the Vets.

Vets in my family.  AND my son who is now out of the US Marines.

So what will I use to toast them.  Likely a Scotch with a splash when 5 pm rolls around.

Sometimes a bourbon is called for when making and Old Fashioned or a Manhattan or ???

That seemed to make this article that came in on my phone ( new android I'm getting  broken in ) on its news feed...  https://www.tastingtable.com/1096612/best-small-batch-bourbons-under-40/

The first on this list of 12 is Buffalo Trace.  It is in already in my home bar.

Others on this list like Jefferson and Elijah Craig and Bowman Brothers may be added when the time is right to refill.

Loved this part of the story:

... For the past 25 years, Jefferson's Bourbon has been making exceptional whiskey at a fair price in a variety of forms, including their Very Small Batch.

This whiskey is blended from the brand's base bourbon as well as three selected bourbons of all different mash bills and ages. This blend creates a whiskey that will satisfy both bourbon novices and connoisseurs. It is straightforward, consistent, bold, and smooth and is suitable to fulfill any of your bourbon needs.

Not only is Jefferson's Very Small Batch a great whiskey at a very affordable price of $37, per Wine-Searcher, but this brand is also well worth supporting because of its partnership with OCEARCH that started in 2012. This non-profit works to study and track marine wildlife such as great white sharks, tiger sharks, sea turtles, and more in order to monitor the health status of their ecosystems. Jefferson's Very Small Batch is certainly a bargain at its price, no doubt, but it's always a bonus to support a great cause simultaneously. ...

Very cool that a bit of the Jeffersons goes to Marine Research.  This will positively affect my consideration when standing at the liquor store making up my mind.

So...  I'm very much looking forward to tasting the "Jefferson's Very Small Batch"

Here's to all the Veterans.  Seen, unseen, family and also those just connected by a shared love of country.  Her's to you.

Veterans Day is a time to reflect on
the courage and fortitude of countless
Americans who have served our Nation.

Thank you for your service.
