Church of the Great Outdoors - Sunday on the Bay

Fishing on a Sunday,

Went out an participated in a little fishing competition with my club.

We started up the Ramblin' at a mellow hour of 8 am.  Went out and there was no bait so we picked up some frozen squid and made do.

It was a little overcast at the start.  But that keeps the wind down and that is a good thing when going out to the Short Banks.   The waters close to MDR were full of boats and life.  The In-Sein was setting up on fish as close to MDR as I've ever seen.  So I snapped a photo.
note breakwater right behind him

I'll share my boat track.  See how you like this.

Our Catch...

We had a lovely day...

Thank you to Bob Godfrey (event chairman) and Jerry Napalitano (fry cook) and Victor J. (co-chair) and All the boat captains that went out in the annual MDRA Rock Fishing Fish Fry event.

Bob's report to the MDRA membership was...
It was a little windy for rock fishing on Sunday but we got enough for the Fish Fry in the Park.  Teams on Ron's Big Mama, Larry's Diver Gent, Dave's diamond Cutter, Keith's Ramblin and Bob's Unreel competed for cash prizes. John Szymura won for heaviest fish and Big Mama won for catching the heaviest bag of  boned filets. Jerry Napolitano's "secret sauce" was used to fry the delicious fresh filets. All the fish tacos you could eat was provided along with salads etc. A special thanks to Coralene for securing a BBQ and picnic table at the Park. Every one agreed we should do this again, soon, stand by for a revised Calendar of events.
SOB

SOB above stands for "Sweet Ol' Bob".  It was so cool to see so many of my fellow MDRA members at the new guest docks in Marina Del Rey. Fun to fry up our catch just after being out fishing.

Thanks for the fun. And Thanks for the little jackpot. My guest missed having the winning fish by just 2 tenths of a pound. Fishing was a little hard as the tides were off. We metered lots of fish but they had lock jaw.

Still it was a great day on Santa Monica Bay.

Fish Wish Granted.

Communed with nature.
